Hey there!

My name is Vicky Vien (she/her). I am a production sound mixer based in Boulder County.

I am a first-generation Chinese/Vietnamese American from Colorado. Much of my youth was spent at my family’s restaurant in Downtown Louisville, where my sister, cousins, and I would get up to all sorts of shenanigans. Growing up in a restaurant also meant I soon learned many aspects of customer service and, at times, let’s say… creative problem-solving!

I graduated from the University of Colorado Denver with a BFA in Film and Television. During this four-year program, my cohort and I worked on several films where I soon grew quite fond of working in the sound department. I find that working in sound has allowed me to reconnect with what it really means to listen to someone and to tune my ears to more than words. Sound is an intimate art that makes us close our eyes and find nuance in human expression. Working in this department also comes with the added perk of hearing spontaneous stand-up routines or the occasional one-on-one concert, which is awesome.

In my work, I prioritize fostering relationships with people and connecting on subjects that we resonate with beyond our technical skills. I am very passionate about working alongside fellow BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ filmmakers who want further representation on screen and behind the scenes.

Let’s create something awesome and meaningful together!
